General information

The conference LUMOS-2026 will be held from May 18 to 22, 2026, at the Alferov University (Academic University), located at 8/3 Khlopina Street, St. Petersburg, Russia. The official language of the conference is russian. If you are a non-speaking russian foreign citizen and willing to participate, please contact the secretary of the conference info@lumos- conf.ru. The registration fee amount will be announced no later than December 10.

Conference Aims and Topics

The conference's mission is to establish an interdisciplinary platform for open dialogue and fruitful collaboration among leading scientists, researchers, and engineers working in the fields of luminescence processes, optical phenomena, and spectroscopic methods. It also aims to continue the traditions of the outstanding national scientific school of luminescence (the series of All-Union Conferences on Luminescence held from the 1940s to the 1980s). The conference strives to transcend traditional boundaries between scientific disciplines (physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, and others) to jointly address fundamental and applied challenges, including interdisciplinary ones, related to the development, research, and application of cutting-edge luminescent materials and technologies, as well as methods and tools. The first conference of the revived series (LUMOS-2024) was held at Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2024.

LUMOS-2026 covers the following topics:

PHYSICS

  1. Atomic and molecular spectroscopy
  2. Low-dimensional systems and nanostructures (quantum dots, wires, wells, 2D materials)
  3. Crystalline and amorphous bulk materials
  4. Theoretical modeling and physics of luminescence processes
  5. Luminescence of minerals and rocks

CHEMISTRY

  1. Inorganic phosphors: synthesis, structure, and properties
  2. Organic molecules and polymers as luminescent materials
  3. Hybrid organic-inorganic systems (MOFs, perovskites, composites)
  4. Chemistry of defects and doping in luminescent materials

BIOLOGY AND MEDICINE

  1. Fluorescent probes and markers for biological systems
  2. Luminescence imaging techniques in medicine
  3. Biosensors and diagnostics based on luminescence
  4. Agrobio-photonics

INSTRUMENTATION AND METHODS

  1. Luminescence spectroscopy with various excitation sources
  2. Modern instrumentation for luminescence research
  3. Time-resolved, spatially-resolved, and polarization-resolved luminescence spectroscopy
  4. Luminescence dating methods and paleo-geological studies

Abstract Submission

Abstracts must be prepared in accordance with the requirements outlined below. The Organizing Committee will submit all materials for review and reserves the right to reject presentations that receive negative reviews or do not comply with the submission requirements. To include an abstract in the conference materials, it is mandatory to provide a publication permission form, completed according to the rules of your organization. A scanned copy must be sent to the conference email upon the abstract's acceptance by the Program Committee following the review process. Abstracts must be submitted by a pre-registered presenter.
